Appendix 3.3 – Rare, threatened and significant species of the Kent and Medway Local Nature Recovery Strategy area requiring further evidence

The Kent and Medway Local Nature Recovery Strategy development process requires a focussed list of priority species, identified as the species in most urgent need amongst other considerations.  Selection of these species followed a process, guided by Natural England.  The county’s rare, threatened and significant species were assessed to determine which of the species the Local Nature Recovery Strategy could best support – species were excluded when identified as requiring better evidence/understanding before necessary action can be determined.

This appendix lists the county’s species falling into this bracket, so that they remain highlighted – and it is noted that exclusion does not mean they are not a priority, but rather the county is lacking in understanding of their presence and distribution and therefore unable to determine or target measures for their recovery.
